How to clean up unavoidable code left behind after uninstalling the app

Unfortunately Shopify has no means to automatically remove integrated HTML code upon uninstallation of an app because as soon as the app is uninstalled they revoke access to the store so nothing can be done by the app anymore. The Shopify team has indicated that they are working on improving this process. You can check out Shopify discussion forums for more on this topic.

How to Edit your Theme

Check out the YouTube video we created to edit your theme on Shopify if you’re ensure of how to.

The code unavoidably left behind is harmless, however it can be removed by doing the following to keep things clean:

  1. Edit your theme template and go to the bottom, remove the snippet that looks like: {% include 'banana-stand-footer' %}
  2. If you followed our guide to speed up loading of Fera content then you need to remove the following snippet in the theme file near the bottom before the ending </body> tag <script src="https://cdn.bananastand.io/js/bananastand.js" type="text/javascript" async="async"></script>
  3. Edit your product page form template and remove the snippet that looks like: {% include 'banana-stand-product-page-container' %}
  4. Edit your product collection item template and remove the snippet that looks like: {% include 'banana-stand-product-list-container' %}
  5. Finally, edit your shopping cart template and remove the snippet that looks like: {% include 'banana-stand-cart-top-container' %}

After that you should be good to go.
